Björk, de son nom complet Björk Guðmundsdóttir, est une musicienne, chanteuse, auteure-compositrice-interprète, productrice et actrice islandaise née le 21 novembre 1965 à Reykjavik. Remarquée pour sa voix couvrant trois octaves et sa personnalité excentrique, elle a développé un style musical éclectique au cours de ses quatre décennies de carrière, s'inspirant des musiques électronique, pop, punk, jazz, alternative, expérimentale, trip hop, classique, traditionelle et avant-gardiste. Björk commence sa carrière musicale à l'âge de 11 ans et se fait d'abord connaître mondialement comme la chanteuse du groupe de rock alternatif The Sugarcubes à 21 ans. Après la séparation du groupe en 1992, la chanteuse commence sa carrière solo avec Debut en 1993. Il est suivi par Post (1995), Homogenic (1997), Vespertine (2001), Medúlla (2004), Volta (2007), Biophilia (2011), Vulnicura (2015), Utopia (2017) et Fossora (2022). Ses albums sont marqués par de nombreuses collaborations et des influences musicales variées. Plusieurs albums de Björk ont atteint le top 20 de l'US Billboard 200. En 2015, son total de disques vendus à travers le monde est estimé à plus de 20 millions. Trente-et-un de ses singles ont atteint le top 40 dans les différents pays, dont vingt-deux rien qu'en Angleterre, à l'instar de titres comme It's Oh So Quiet, Hyperballad, Venus as a Boy, Army Of Me ou encore Bachelorette. Ses différentes distinctions récoltées au cours de sa carrière incluent l'ordre du Faucon, l'ordre des Arts et des Lettres, cinq Brit Awards et seize nominations aux Grammy Awards. Par ailleurs, elle fait partie de la liste du Time 100 des cent personnalités les plus influentes au monde en 2015 et Rolling Stone la désigne comme étant la 60e plus grande chanteuse et la 81e plus grande compositrice. Björk a joué dans quelques films dont Dancer in the Dark (2000) de Lars von Trier, pour lequel elle remporte le prix de la meilleure actrice au Festival de Cannes 2000 et est nommée pour l'Oscar de la meilleure chanson originale pour I've Seen It All. Biophilia est commercialisé comme un album interactif grâce à une application avec son propre programme éducatif. Björk défend également des causes environnementales en Islande.
